Blackberry Application Development

WES 2020 (April 27-29), 2010 was off to the start following the announcement of Blackberry Pearl 3G smartphone. They had already announced that this device would come up with traditional keypad.
What is the reason behind it? What markets is the smartphone intended for? RIM says that they are going to launch two different model of Blackberry Pearl 3G i.e. 8100 and 9105 to address the different audience around the world. In the United States and in some parts of Asia full QWERTY keypad is very much common. On the other hand elsewhere in Europe and other parts of Asia, conventional phones along with common keypad instead of smartphones are very popular.
RIM uses SureType technology to support both full QWERTY keypad as well as traditional phone keypad; but full QWERTY of Blackberry Pearl 3G will condense to only 20 keypads allowing for the smaller, sleek and compact smartphone. There are many cell phone users who are heavy texter on a traditional phone and they would familiar with common. Condensed keypad with 14 keys will target them.
The BlackBerry Pearl 3G smartphones will not only support the Latin alphabet but will also has keypad versions in Arabic, Russian, Greek, Hebrew, Simplified Chinese, and other alphabets.
RIM already have both touch-screen Blackberry and Blackberry Curve type smartphone. Now the question is where do the new BlackBerry Pearl 3G smartphones fit into the Blackberry family?
RIM says, QWERTY with 20 keys would aim at them who like attractive device as well as alternative to the full-QWERTY keypad in a smaller device whereas Condensed Keypad with 14 keys would serve as an introductory smartphone for the first-time Blackberry users.
The market analysts expect, RIM may try to initiate the audience to use new keypad package which are both more familiar and less intimidating. For now we can say — so be it!
