It was really good news for Twitter users. RIM recently came up with their own application for Twitter users for the BlackBerry phones. When we heard the news, it reminded us of the Twitter mobile interface. We just tried that app on a Blackberry device for a while. It uses the same background theme and like the mobile site this background theme cannot be changed in any case. On the top there is a row of tabs for the various functions. Users have access to all Twitter functionalities such as @mentions, lists, your profile, direct messages, user search function, and twitter trends in this mobile application. Accessing Twitter from Blackberry is really thrilling news for the twitter users. But the application lacks one of the most important features. It does not offer the ability to add the location to the users’ twits which known as geo-tagging. Users have no choice over the type of image upload service and by default TwitPic is used. Most importantly, Twitter for BlackBerry cannot automatically shorten URLs anymore. One good thing is that users can tweet from blackberry free of cost. And hopefully RIM is going to release an updated version soon with fixing the minor issues here and there.
