Have you ever seen advertisement of mobile apps? Now Apps are everywhere; be it newspaper, TV or billboard. Wherever you go in USA, UK, you can find advertisements of mobile apps in newspaper, TV, billboard and hoarding on your way. Sometime we found soap-opera storyline to advertise any mobile app that obviously has got the media hooked!
Being virtual goods, now Mobile Apps became middle-of-the-road. But why? Just 1 or 2 years back, we saw these advertisements on the internet only. Now mobile apps aim at mainstream media and it is an augmented reality.
What does reality show us? Few days back, I was studying a discussion on a forum of analyst professionals, who predicts that Global demand for mobile apps is just starting; mobile apps revenue is anticipated to reach $ 6 billion by 2013.
A few people were trying to say that micropayment is a strong reason behind the popularity of these kinds of virtual products. But having extensive experience in the industry we can predict that by the end of this decade, mobile devices will be the first attention for the applications instead of only voice calls.
Yes, we are talking about smartphone that support ample ranges of interesting apps. Now social networking is the most significant part of the life. And it is the time when mobile manufacturers are creating mobile social networking apps to integrate most popular brand like Facebook, MySpace, twitter etc.
Money transfer, mobile banking, Location sharing via GPS, hotel and even restaurant booking, weather, traffic and air quality forecasting, health and fitness-related application, spending habits apps and many what not you can find in the app stores of any smartphone. And these apps have a trend in consumer engagement.
There are many other reasons. Wireless mobile internet can surpass the wire line internet in global reach; that increases number of users with IP connection in mobile rather than PCs. In the era of app stores, smartphone makers launch their own SaaS that shows interactive, entertaining, utility based apps. That is the major point where smartphone makers are struggling with issue of ‘who owns the customers?’ And there is a big crowd of third party app developers as well. We would look forward to seeing the days when apps are put to bedroom, kitchen!
